Peace and Quiet

I have the perfect solution to escape the crazy week I've had. Watch DVDs.

On queue: The Simpsons, Star Trek: Voyager and some other shows.

See you in 3 months, crazy country. Maybe you won't be as crazy then.

Sad Sight Yet I Felt Nothing...

I'm glad I wasn't anywhere near Makati or Ortigas/Santolan earlier
today. What was supposed to be the 20th Anniversary of the People
Power Revolution turned into another rally calling for the resignation
of the President. It's quite sad really. Nothing but red flags, and to
think, twenty years ago there was nothing but white and yellow. Oh
sure, there was the contingent of the former President Corazon Aquino
bearing the trademark yellow and white.

Then there's the usual "I got cheated" crowd, the has-been(s) and
never-were(s); as well as the usual activists from UP, (No offense
to my UP buddies, but my money's paying for your education - so study,
damn it! Drop out of school and let someone who actually wants to
study fill your spot.
) and the people with too much time on their
hands (which just proves the old saying: Idle minds are the Devil's
workshop). Oh, and the above-mentioned Reds. *sigh*

People Power... Whatever respect (reverence?) I have for this
occasion... It's gone. They ruined it for me.

While watching the dispersion of the rallies today, I felt no pity for
those getting hit with batons, shields or fists. I have seen similar
scenes so many times these past few years that I feel desensitized by
it all. Perhaps the fact that I don't know anyone there contributed to
my less-than-apathetic attitude. Or perhaps I'm just tired of it all.
I'm sure many feel the same way.

They're willing to get hit, and why? They're fighting for my freedom?
From what? Their kind of freedom? Red freedom? Now there's an oxymoron
if ever I saw one. I'm pretty sure that what they're fighting for
isn't for me. In fact, I'm dead set against it. I like things the way
they are right now, thank you very much.

Now, if they said that they're fighting for free porn on cable TV, or
polar bears and baby seals.I'll be right there alongside them. In any
case, this whole thing will blow over in a couple of days.
